As mandated by Chapter 786 of the Laws of 1992, certain healthcare professionals (such as physiciansphysician assistants, specialist assistants, medical students, medical residents, and physician assistant students) licensed in New York State must complete an approved Infection Control training every four years.

This New York State approved Infection Control certification, through Laboratory Consultation Services, Inc. (NYS provider #IC-028), adheres to the Education Law (Section 6505-b) and Public Health Law (Section 239), and includes the current, scientifically accepted infection prevention and control principles, including measures to prevent the transmission of HIV, HBV, HCV, and other infections.

Description

The New York State Education Law requires that every physician, physician assistants (PAs), and specialist assistants (SAs), dentist, dental hygienist, registered professional nurse, licensed practical nurse, optometrist, and podiatrist practicing in the state complete New York approved barrier precaution training and infection control course work appropriate to the professional’s practice.

This New York State infection control certification course consists of the seven elements of the required course and satisfies the infection control training requirement for all professions.

The entire New York State infection control certification course and barrier precaution training is online and may be studied at your own pace. When you have completed the course, take the short exam at the end to assess your level of understanding of the material.

The fee for the course is $30 and may be paid for with any major credit card or PayPal.
